Design Manager for Mountain Bike apparel, representing 30% of the total volume. Approximately $60 Million.

  • Design Manager for Fox Racings Mountain Bike category. Develop concepts and creative strategies that fulfill the objectives of the category, brand concepts, and briefs. Collaborate with Product Marketing teams to ensure holistic storytelling. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure consumer and brand focus.

  • Research, apply, and test new fabric, coating, and protection technologies for the Mountain Bike category.

  • Research, develop, and implement recycled and sustainable alternatives for Mountain Bike apparel.

  • Work closely with junior designers to translate seasonal concepts and colors to product lines. Identify problems, develop solutions, and seek innovative approaches to the development of Mountain Bike apparel.

  • Established effective interaction between Product Marketing, Product Development, and technical design teams to build focus and direction for the Mountain Bike category. Track the sales of my categories to aid in the creation of SKU counts for upcoming seasons.

  • Design Manager for the Training category Reebok/ Adidas Group.

  • Conceptualize, research, and apply new technologies to the training apparel category.

Zumiez inc. Everett, WA (2007 – 2015)
Senior Designer

Sr. Design and product development for Young Men’s apparel over multiple brands including Empyre, Dravus, Aperture snow and Freeworld, representing approximately 45% of total men’s volume. 

  • Sr. Design and product development for the entire men’s Private Label snow program under the Empyre and Aperture brands. Establishing seasonal trend and color direction. This is full technical outerwear sitting with snow specific labels like 686, Analog and Thirtytwo. Seasonal trips to China and Korea to develop specialty snow fabrics.

  • Conceptualized and executed Dravus as a new Private Label brand accounting for 25% of the Private Label mix under multiple categories. These categories include casual jackets, cotton fleece, and casual pants. Oversaw and directed an internal team to launch the brand in Zumiez stores.

  • Frequent denim development trips to Mexico and China to develop the men’s Private Label denim program. Selected base cloth as well as directly oversaw all wash and finishing processes for Empyre, Dravus, and Freeworld denim programs. Had increased the total Private label denim business by 38% since 2007.

  • Provided fabric, color, and design direction for Casual jackets, cotton fleece, bonded fleece, casual pants, and denim across all men’s Private Label brands. Worked directly with overseas vendors on costing, construction and fit.

  • Create seasonal color and trend direction for the men’s private label team.

  • SKU planning with the men's buying team at the beginning of each season.

  • Manage the men’s Private Label Design calendar. Working with the buying, Product development, Production and design team to plan and manage all key due dates of the design calendar.

Mervyn’s, Hayward, CA (2003 – 2007)

Design and product development management for Young Men’s apparel over multiple brands: Sideout, Cheetah and High Sierra, representing approximately 25% of total private label volume. 

  • Exclusive design and product development for Sideout (fashion-oriented sportswear, and swimwear),

  • Cheetah (activewear and sportswear apparel).

  • Provide direction in upgrading the fashion image of all classifications through improved quality, fabric, and trim.
